Siddhivinayak – The Right-Trunked Ganesha

Siddhivinayak

A Ganesha idol whose tip of the trunk is tilted toward the right side is known as Siddhivinayak. This type of idol is not kept in homes but only in temples because it requires stringent adherence to rules and regulations.

Why is Right-trunked Ganesha Called Siddhivinayak?

Per the Puranas, Lord Ganesha has two wives, named Riddhi and Siddhi. Riddhi sits on his left side, and Siddhi on his right side. Therefore, the right-trunked Ganesha is called Siddhivinayak, and the left-trunked is called Riddhivinayak.

Why is Siddhivinayak not Worshipped at Home?

1. The right trunked Ganesha idol signifies Pingala Nadi, which is related to Sun energy. It is also known as solar Nadi. As fire can be constructive as well as destructive, in the same way, if worshiped properly, Siddhivinayak gives great results, but if the worship is not done properly, it can cause problems in life.

2. The right-trunked Ganesha is believed to be the giver of Moksha, while the left-trunked is the giver of prosperity. A common man is interested in mundane gains in life. Therefore, left-trunked Ganesha is commonly worshiped in Hindu homes.

3. Siddhivinayak requires special worship and strict adherence to rules, which is nearly impossible to observe in common households. If something goes wrong, the worship might cause more problems than gains. Therefore, to be on the safe side, it is better to worship left-trunked Ganesha.
