Tanot Mata Mandir is a Hindu temple located in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. It is one of the biggest proofs of the existence of Hindu gods and a miracle of modern times. The temple was heavily bombarded in the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars, but none of the bombs dropped around the temple exploded. After this miraculous event, the Border Security Force of India took over control of the temple.

Where Is Tanto Mata Mandir Located?

The Tanot Rai Mata Mandir is located in Tanot village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan. It is 120 km Northwest of Jaisalmer city. The village is situated very close to the Longewala border post. The India-Pakistan border is about 35 km away from the village.

The best way to reach Tanot Mata Mandir is by road. It is located approximately 120 km away from Jaisalmer city. You can also hire a cab in the city. It takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes by road to reach the temple. The road goes through the Thar desert and is a treat to the eyes.

The temple is open throughout the year, but the timings are restricted. Currently, it opens at 5:30 am and closes at 7:30 pm. Timings may change on special days.

The best time to visit the temple is during winter because the climate is hot in other seasons.

Who Is Tanot Mata?

Tanot Mata, also known as Aavad Mata is an incarnation of Hinglaj Mata. There is an interesting story about the incarnation of Tanot Mata in the Charan literature.

A long time ago, there was a man named Mamadia Charan who did not have any children. He had heard about the miracles of Hinglaj Mata Temple (perhaps located in Balochistan currently). So, he visited the temple seven times on his foot. Goddess Hinglaj was pleased due to his devotion, and one night she appeared in his dream. She asked him whether he wanted a daughter or a son. Mamadiya Charan asked the goddess to take birth in his home as his daughter. After that, Charan was blessed with seven daughters and one son. One of his seven daughters was Aavad Mata.

In 828 AD, Rajput king Tanu Rao constructed a temple of the goddess. It seems that because of his name Tanu, the goddess is called Tanot Mata.

Miracles Of Tanot Mata:

During the 1965 India-Pakistan War, Pakistani soldiers bombarded an army post near the Tanot Mata Mandir. Many bombs fell in the vicinity of the temple, but none exploded. After this incident, BSF took over the administration of the temple. The prayers and worship have been conducted by BSF personnel till now.

A similar incident happened during the 1971 war, and none of the bombs exploded that fell inside or around the temple. It is said that a total of 3000 bombs were dropped among which 450 were dropped inside the temple area but none exploded. Some of these bombs are put on display inside the temple.

After these incidents, the popularity of the temple increased tremendously. Now it has become a tourist spot, and many Hindus visit the temple. It is said that many non-Hindu Pakistani soldiers are also devotees of Tanot Mata. All the soldiers posted at the border there first visit this temple before joining.

The incident is depicted in the Bollywood movie Border, which is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

Why Did Bombs Not Explode In Tanot Mata Temple?

Bombs in Tanot Matam Temple

Humans tend not to believe the things that they did not witness. Therefore, many people do not believe in the miracle. So let us analyze the evidence available.

1. Is it fake news?

If it was fake news, then it is not clear why did BSF take over the administration of the temple. There are many videos on YouTube proving BSF’s involvement. Therefore, it does not seem to be fake news.

2. Was it just a coincidence?

Coincidence generally happens once. Although it can happen more than once, it is very less likely. The Tanot Mata Mandir was bombarded at two different times six years apart. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that it happened by fluke.

3. Were bombs defective?

Some say that the bomb is an artificial thing and can malfunction sometimes, but 3000 bombs! Even 450 bombs that were actually dropped inside the temple area are not a small number. It does not seem possible. Even if we assume the whole batch of the bombs was defective, how could it happen twice? Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the bombs were defective.

4. Why do bombs in the photos look like new ones?

If you look at the pictures of bombs displayed in the temple, they are polished and painted properly and kept inside a glass compartment. If they struck the ground or walls of the temple, then they should look like old bombs.

I do not know the answer to this question, but I think the soldiers either selected only new-looking bombs they found, or they cleaned, polished, and painted the bombs as they are put on display.

5. Personification of weapons?

In the Kalki Purana, there is an incident. In a war, Lord Kalki and his army would kill many enemies. Therefore, to avenge their deaths, their wives would attack him. But before they attack him, the weapons that they would possess would tell them that Lord Kalki is the lord of the world and they get all their powers from him only. Hence, they would not attack him.

Did something like that happen in this case, and the bombs did not explode because of the power of the goddess?

In my opinion, this miracle was real because the incident is not very old, and there is sufficient evidence. Also, there are many temples in India where you can witness miracles. It depends on the individual whether to believe it or not.
